IPhone Fold Reportedly Uses Two Camera Technology And Touch ID Under Screen
JAKARTA - Apple is again shaking the tech scene with the latest rumors surrounding the iPhone Fold. Apple's first foldable device is said to carry two types of camera technology at once: a bottom-screen camera for foldable main screens, as well as a hole-punch camera for external screens. Not only that, Apple is also rumored to be relying on Touch ID which is embedded under the screen for biometric authentication.
This rumor emerged through an upload on Weibo from a well-known 'Digital Chat Station' on Thursday, May 15, which said that Apple was working hard to create a clean and smooth folding screen display without visual interference, such as notch or Dynamic Island. Therefore, the camera on the main screen will be hidden behind the panel, using under-screen camera technology.
This technology allows Apple to embed cameras without the need to create a hole or bangs on a large screen. However, the implementation of this technology is not without challenges. The camera must be able to take pictures optimally even though it has to penetrate the lit screen layer.
For external screens, Apple is said to have chosen a more conventional approach, namely a hole-punch camera, as commonly used on many Android smartphones today. The combination of these two technologies is referred to as Apple's strategy to maintain a balance between aesthetic design and camera functionality.

Interestingly, the iPhone Fold is also rumored not to use Face ID, but to return to Touch ID. However, instead of placing it on a power button like on the iPad Air and mini iPad, Touch ID this time will be implanted directly under the screen. This gives a futuristic impression and saves the internal space of the device something very crucial in the folding smartphone design.
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, limited space in foldable devices does make Face ID integration very difficult. Touch ID's choice is considered the most realistic solution to maintain biometric security without sacrificing sleek design and portability.
With these rumors, Apple seems ready to provide a big surprise through the iPhone Fold, which will not only be their first foldable device, but can also be a marker of a new direction for future design and biometric technology. If all of this really materializes, then it's not impossible that the iPhone Fold will be a new standard for high-end foldable smartphones.
