Israeli Military Kills 5 Palestinians In The Aftermath Of The Shooting Of Old Pregnant Settlements In The West Bank
JAKARTA - The Israeli military killed five Palestinians in the West Bank, hours after a pregnant settlers were killed in the shooting.
The pro-commetric hardline leaders, including a government minister, called for Palestinian cities to be destroyed. The Israeli military said it killed five "terrorists" and arrested a sixth in a building in Tamoun, following a shootout and use of missiles fired by Israeli soldiers.
Tamoun is a Palestinian city about 35 km (22 miles) from Israeli settlements in Brukhin, near the place where an elderly pregnant woman, Tzeela Gez, died late Wednesday in a shooting that drew harsh criticism from Israeli leaders.
The military said it was looking for those responsible for Wednesday's shooting - whose identities were not identified - although it was not yet clear whether Tamoun's operations were related.
No party has claimed responsibility for the shooting, which took place amid one of Israel's largest military operations in the West Bank in two decades and while the Israeli military continues to bombard Gaza.
Reported by Reuters, gunshots were heard in Tamoun on Thursday, May 15. Reuters footage showed fire and black smoke on the top floor of the house, while Israeli soldiers stood on the street outside.
Palestinian news agency WAFA said the Israeli military was destroying the home where the Palestinians were killed.
The Israeli military said soldiers had identified "terrorists" in buildings during last night's operations in Tamoun and nearby Tubas city.
