80 People Died As Israel Intensified Bombings In Gaza Strip

JAKARTA - Israeli military attacks killed at least 80 Palestinians across the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, local health authorities said.

Medics said most of the dead, including women and children, were killed in a series of Israeli airstrikes against homes in the Greater Java region of northern Gaza.

Areas threatened by evacuation warnings include some of Shifa's largest schools and hospitals, according to a map published by Israeli soldiers.

Witnesses and medics said shortly after the evacuation order, Israeli aircraft carried out several airstrikes against targets within Gaza City.

"Some of the victims are still on the road and under the rubble where civilian rescue and emergency teams cannot reach (they)," the health ministry said in a statement.

On Wednesday, witnesses and medics said Israeli airstrikes on a bulldozer approaching the European Hospital's attack area injured several people.

Reuters television footage shows residents returning to the rubble of their homes. Some are looking for documents and items among the remains of walls and furniture.

"They fired two rockets, they told us that Moqbel's house (had been attacked)," said Hadi Moqbel, who lost relatives in an attack in Jabalia.

"We ran, we saw pieces of the body lying on the ground, the children were killed, the woman was killed and a baby was killed - her head was broken like a flower. She was two months old."

The Israeli military did not immediately comment. They said they were trying to verify the report.

Israel's press release on Wednesday quoted security officials as saying they believed Hamas military leader Mohammad Sinwar and other senior officials had been killed in an attack on Tuesday against what the Israeli military described as a command and control bunker under the European Hospital in the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.

There was no confirmation from the Israeli military or Hamas.

It is known that the latest conflict in the Gaza Strip broke out when a Palestinian militant group led by Hamas attacked Israel's southern region on October 7, 2023, killing 1,200 people and another 251 being held hostage, according to Israeli calculations.

In response, Israel carried out blockades, airstrikes, and military operations in the Gaza Strip.

Both sides had a ceasefire from January 19 to March 18, as well as exchanges of hostages and detainees on both sides. Israel resumed its attack after the end of the ceasefire.

Meanwhile, a medical source in Gaza on Wednesday confirmed the death toll from Palestine since October 2023 has reached 52.928 and 119.846 others injured, the majority of children and women, quoted from WAFA.

According to the same source, the death toll since the resumption of Israeli genocide on March 18 after a two-month ceasefire has also risen to 2,799, with nearly 7,805 reportedly injured.
