Google Simplifies Model Voter Menu On Gemini Web App
JAKARTA - Google has reshuffled Gemini's app interface on the web again. After last week changing the model description, now the company is updating the view of a dedicated picker model for Gemini Advanced subscription users by simplifying it to four main options.
Here are four options for the latest model available on the Gemini web app:
2.0 Flash: Fast assistance for various public needs
2.5 Flash (preview): The latest generation reasoning model designed for speed
2.5 Pros (preview): Superior in reasoning, mathematics, and programming
2.0 Flash with Search history: A personalized model based on a user search history
The previous two options, namely Deep Research with 2.5 Pro and Veo 2, have been removed from the main model list. Both models are not common models and can now only be accessed through the command column (prompt bar). Especially Veo 2, now present in the form of a new feature called Video which has been tested since the end of April.
In addition, the Canvas feature also gets a new icon as part of this display update. Users can direct the cursor to each model to see the short description.
On the desktop display with a wide screen, all options are displayed live. But on mobile devices, the model option is hidden behind the three-dot button (overflow menu). Currently, there has been no change in the appearance of the Android or iOS versions of the Gemini app.

This change also does not apply to free accounts.
Overall, this update aims to improve the ease of exploration and understanding of Gemini's capabilities, instead of focusing on the complexity of the models used. With just four options, the list becomes more compact and manageable.
Going forward, when the 2.5 Flash and 2.5 Pro models come out of preview status, the 2.0 Flash model is expected to be removed. Google also appears to have long-term plans to integrate the personalization model into all Gemini features
