Banten Governor Asks Cilegon City Chamber Of Commerce And Industry To Be Trained Regarding Allegations Of Asking For A Project Allotment Of IDR 5 Trillion

BANTEN - The Governor of Banten, Andra Soni, requested that guidance be carried out on the Cilegon City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) which allegedly asked for a project allotment of up to IDR 5 trillion from PT Chengda, the main contractor for the PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk project.

"Because Kadin is an official organization, it is at the district/city, provincial and central levels, so in my opinion, coaching should be carried out from within themselves," Andra Soni told reporters in Serang, Banten, Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

Andra revealed that his party will coordinate with the Ministry of Investment and various related parties to follow up on the allegations.

The former chairman of the Banten DPRD regretted the alleged burglary by the Cilegon City Chamber of Commerce and Industry against companies investing in the area.

"Yes, I deeply regret that incident. Today I will meet with the Ministry of Investment to discuss this issue," he said.

Kadin Indonesia Forms Investigation Team

Responding to the issue, the Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Anindya Bakrie, stated that he had formed an investigative team to investigate the alleged involvement of its members in the request for project rations in Cilegon City.

He considered this case to be more of an action by individuals at the regional level, not an institutional organizational policy.

"If there are things like this, it is more aimed at the actions of individuals and is at the district/city level," said Anindya, Tuesday, May 13.

According to him, the verification and ethics team was formed to keep the investment climate conducive and ensure legal certainty for business actors.

"This team will also respond to various questions and complaints from the public regarding the dynamics of the Kadin organization in the Cilegon area," he added.

Anindya said that his party was monitoring this issue seriously with the Deputy Chairperson of the Coordinator for Food Affairs of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mulyadi Jayabaya, who also came from Banten.

Kadin Indonesia emphasized its commitment to continue to encourage investment and national trade by upholding legal certainty, and rejecting all forms of unlawful action and repressive approach.

As a quick step, Kadin will soon hold a meeting with representatives of the Governor of Banten, the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), and law enforcement officials to investigate the allegation.
