Sony Xperia 1 VII Officially Launches, Equipped With Advanced Cameras And AI Features For Professional Videography
JAKARTA - Sony has again shown its defenses in the smartphone world by releasing its newest flagship device, Xperia 1 VII. After various leaks and speculations that have been circulating over the past few months, now Sony has finally revealed all the details about the successor to Xperia 1 VI. Although it does not bring major design changes, improvements to the camera side, performance, and smart features make Xperia 1 VII deserve attention.
In terms of appearance, Xperia 1 VII still maintains Sony's distinctive design with a lean rectangular body, three vertically ordered rear cameras, and the existence of a 3.5mm audio jack port that is increasingly scarce on premium smartphones.
The texture on the body side is still presented to provide a steady grip, while the 6.5-inch OLED FHD + HDR screen with a 120Hz refresh rate is back in use. Although Sony still hasn't returned the 4K screen as in the old model, BRAVIA technology and a new feature called "Sunlight Vision" make the screen clearly visible even in direct sunlight. Additional light sensors on the back also help the screen adjust to the conditions of the surrounding lighting.
The camera sector is the main attraction of Xperia 1 VII. Sony presents a significant improvement in the ultrawide camera which now uses a 1/1.56-inch 48MP sensor, more than double the size of the previous sensor. This increase allows clearer night photos with less noise. The main camera remains using a 24mm/48m T Exmor sensor, while the telephoto camera uses an Exmor RS lens with a focus length of 85-170mm and optical zoom capability.
Not only from the hardware side, Sony also injects artificial intelligence to boost user experience. Two new features were introduced: "AI Camera Work" and "Auto Framing". AI Camera Work allows users to record stable and focused videos on the subject even though the camera and subject are both moving. While Auto Framing automatically tracks the subject and cuts the video view so that the subject remains in the middle of the screen, with the option of displaying a more focused cropping scene or version.

For performance, Xperia 1 VII is equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a high-end chip also used on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The phone is equipped with 12GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and microSDXC slots that support up to 2TB of expansion. Battery capacity remains 5,000mAh and supports Qi wireless charging.
As a device from Sony, of course, audio and gaming features are unforgettable. Xperia 1 VII is equipped with stereo speakers, Dolby Atmos, LDAC, DSEE, and 360 Audio Reality. On the gaming side, there are features like Remote Play, compatibility with DualShock 4 and DualSense, Game Enhancer, to touch scanning rate 240Hz that increase screen responsiveness while playing.
Xperia 1 VII is available in three attractive color options: Slate Black, Moss Green, and Orchid Purple. The phone is priced at 1,499 euros in Europe (Rp27.8 million), and will be sold via Sony's official website as well as several retail partners. Unfortunately, like the previous generation, Xperia 1 VII will certainly not be officially released on the United States market.
With the combination of cutting-edge cameras, artificial intelligence, high-quality screens, and strong performance, Sony Xperia 1 VII appears to be aimed at users who want a high-level visual and multimedia experience directly from their hands.
