Proton Pamerkan EV Keduanya Di Malaysia Autoshow 2025, Ini Estimasi Spesifikasinya

JAKARTA - The automotive brand from Malaysia, Proton, has successfully launched its first electric car called eMas 7 which was introduced last year.

Despite taking a base from Geely E5 or EX5, this compact-form crossover can attract consumers in neighboring countries by successfully booking orders of up to 5,500 units as of last April.

Not only stopping at eMas 7, the automotive brand bearing the Lion head logo also wants to continue the trend in selling EVs in its own country by presenting eMas 5 at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025.

Launching from Paultan, Monday, May 12, Proton eMas 5 takes the base from Geely Star Wish or Xingyuan which has a compact hatchback design.

The car is exhibited with a striking camouflage robe, but it looks very clear that it is Geely Star Wish. It has a rounding design with a forward and rear light sweeping backwards.

Not only that, the pillar-C section is also filled with horizontal lines with the "Proton eMas" logo in front and the words "Proton" on the back.

Although the interior is still covered up, it is estimated that eMas 5 will have the same interior design as Star Wish.

As an illustration, Geely Star Wish has an 8.8-inch digital instrument screen with a 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment. It is decorated by a 256-color ambient light that adorns the dashboard to the door panel, reflecting the luxurious impression of the car.

Other features on Star Wish are 50W wireless chargers, powerable front seats, to the presence of Vehicle-to-load or V2L functions.

It is estimated that eMas 5 will get ADAS features such as Star Wish, consisting of autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning, automatic high beam, and front vehicle departure alert.

The technical details have not been leaked. However, Geely Star Wish has a number of options for the Chinese market.

As an illustration, this hatchback has a basic choice with a single electric motor measuring 79 ps and a 130 Nm torque along with a 30.12 kWh LFP battery from CATL.

The battery is capable of making Geely Star Wish can go up to 310 km according to the CLTC cycle.

There was also the Long Range variant with a 116 ps electric motor and a 150 Nm torque along with a 40.12 kWh LFP battery, providing a cruising range of up to 410 km according to the CLTC cycle.

It is estimated that the Proton eMas 5 will also have an Aegis Short Blade battery with a capacity of 49.52 kWh and 60.22 kWh taken from eMas 7 with a more impressive reach.

Although Proton is still silent about the price, it is almost certain that eMas 5 will launch around the end of this year and will be a competitive competitor for BYD Dolphin in neighboring countries.
