The Indonesian Minister Of Health Supports Perthera-Pathgen Cooperation To Overcome Cancer In Indonesia

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Minister of Health (Menkes), Budi Gunadi Sadikin stated, cancer is a disease that is widely adapted to by humans. The number of deaths from cancer is also quite high.

"One of the biggest diseases is cancer, and it increases. In Southeast Asia, cancer kills more than 34 thousand people a year," he said, Sunday, May 12, 2025.

Nevertheless, his party supports the partnership between Perthera and Pathgen. Moreover, efforts to overcome cancer also involve AI, making it easier.

"I hope with this study that you can determine, you can solve major difficulties due to the billions of genomes, billions of products, metabolic, microbiota, billions of data that are very difficult to determine and search for. You use AI and we have all the evidence. We have a diagnostic tool to search for all genomics, proteomys, metabolism, and we also have tools to analyze the permutations and combinations that make up this cancer," said Budi.

"So that's the first part. Congratulations, I support you," he added.

As for the cooperation between Perthera and Pathgen, it is possible to increase clinical results. Namely the transition from an empirical treatment approach to target therapy that increases the progress-free survival rate and overall completion.

Then, cost efficiency, namely reducing the ineffective use of therapy, suppressing patient personal expenses, and reducing burdens on the national health insurance system (BPJS Kesehatan).

Then, strengthening the health system, namely building a precision oncology framework that is scalable and in line with the initiative to modernize Indonesian health services.

According to the agreement, Perthera and Pathgen will develop a comprehensive precision oncology program, incorporating Perthera's expertise in precision oncology, technical support, and global research networks with Pathgen's national laboratory infrastructure, clinical integration capabilities, and patients-focused services.

Perthera is a company known as The Therapeutic Intelligence Company, along with Pathgen Diagnostic Technology, a leading molecular diagnostic provider in Indonesia.

They announced a strategic partnership to expand access to high-quality cancer services throughout Indonesia.

This collaboration aims to integrate molecular profiles, bioinformatics, and evidence-based decision support into the oncology treatment landscape in Indonesia, to significantly increase the patient's clinical results and reduce the cost of health services.
