KAI Records Occupancy Rata During Vesak Holidays Until May 12 Exceeds 100 Percent

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded a significant increase in public interest in using rail transportation during the Vesak Day holiday and joint leave which took place from 9 to 14 May 2025.

KAI Vice President Public Relations Anne Purba revealed that the public interest this year is very high. KAI operates a total of 984,657 seats, consisting of 829,026 long-distance train seats and 155,631 local train seats, including additional travel.

Until May 12, 2025 at 09.00 WIB, long-distance train ticket sales have reached 796,872 tickets or 96 percent, and local train 148,735 tickets by 96 percent. This figure will still increase over time," he explained, Monday, May 12.

Anne added, Saturday, May 10, 2025 is the peak of the departure flow, where 207,571 customers are served in just one day. This figure reflects 124 percent of the seat capacity provided as many as 166,975 seats, thanks to the dynamical system of ups and downs of passengers at various stations.

Anne added that the average occupancy until May 12 was above 100 percent, signaling the high level of seat utilization. According to him, these results reflect the effectiveness of public planning for holiday transportation and trust in KAI.

"All operations are supported by additional officers, optimizing the series, and increasingly customer-friendly services," said Anne.
