The PDP Law Institute Will Be Filled With ASN, Responsible Directly To The President

JAKARTA - The government is finalizing the establishment of a personal data protection agency as mandated in the Personal Data Protection Act (UU PDP).

Director General of Digital Space Supervision Alexander Sabar said that this institution was designed to have a strategic position directly under the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

"If we read the law, it mandates the institution or its body will be directly under the president," Alex told the media some time ago.

In addition, Alex also emphasized that this PDP institution will later be filled by government employees or State Civil Apparatus (ASN).

"Regarding the person who will manned the personal data protection agency or agency, it must be ASN, State Civil Apparatus. Its name is the state body, its employees are government employees, State Civil Apparatus," he explained further.

The establishment of this institution is part of the process of drafting derivative regulations for the PDP Law, which is currently under intensive discussion.

Furthermore, Alex said, also if the derivative rule of the PDP Law, namely the Government Regulation (PP), is in the harmonization stage.

The harmonization process between agencies is ongoing at the Ministry of Law, along with other relevant Ministries/Institutions.

He hopes that the derivative and institutional rules of the PDP Law can be completed soon this year. "Hopefully, all of these processes can be completed this year," added Alex.
