PP Derivatives Of The PDP Law And Its Institutions Are Still Being Discussed, Komdigi Targets To Be Completed This Year

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs stated that the derivative regulations of the Personal Data Protection Law (UU PDP), are still being discussed with the relevant Ministries / Institutions.

Director General of Digital Space Supervision Alexander Sabar hopes that the Government Regulation (PP) derived from the PDP Law can be completed in 2025.

"Currently it is still in the process (derived to the PDP Law). The draft government regulations are in progress. If you look at the progress, it's not bad, every week up to 5 articles can be discussed. We hope this year," Alex said on the Komdigi Ngopi agenda on Friday, May 9.

According to Alex, this derivative PP will have more than 200 articles. Currently, the Ministry of Communication and Industry is still actively discussing to discuss articles one by one every week.

"There are 200 articles. That's a discussion almost every week, and only up to article 90s. So it's still in process, hopefully it can be done soon," hoped Alex.

He added that this discussion involved many agencies, not only Komdigi. Currently, the harmonization process is being carried out at the Ministry of Law.

In addition to the derivative rules, Alex also mentioned that the rules regarding personal data protection institutions are also ongoing. Later, this institution will be directly under the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

"If we read the law, it mandates the institution or its body will be directly under the president. So the position of the body is directly under the president," explained Alexander.
