Construction Of CIsem II Earth Gas Pipe Reaches 64.3 Percent

JAKARTA - The Cirebon-Semarang natural gas pipeline construction project phase II (Cisem II) on the Batang-Kandang Haur Timur section, which is being worked on by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), shows significant progress.

By the end of April 2025, the project's physical progress had reached 64.3 percent, exceeding the target of 62.8 percent or 1.5 percent faster than the set plan.

"As of April 30, 2025, physical progress has reached 64.3 percent or ahead 1.5 percent of the target of 62.8 percent," said Acting (Plt) Director General of Oil and Gas (Migas) Tri Winarno, Saturday, May 10.

Tri added that the project has now entered the peak phase of construction (peak construction), which absorbs 1,614 workers. Until now, the project has recorded 1.49 million safe working hours, with the level of domestic components (TKDN) reaching 62 percent, in accordance with the commitment to support the national industry.

Cisem II, which stretches along 245 kilometers, is a continuation of the Cisem I Project, which has succeeded in flowing gas to the Kendal industrial area, Central Java, since November 2023. The government continues to encourage the acceleration of development so that this project can be completed on time.

"The Cisem II project is targeted to be completed in April 2026. After completion, the natural gas pipeline network on the island of Java will be fully connected from East Java to West Java," explained Tri.

The beneficiaries of the construction of the Cisem II project are Balongan Refinery, various industries in West Java, household gas networks, and additional needs from Pupuk Kujang.

The existence of the Phase II Cisem project will complement the 60 km Cisem Phase I which has been completed in 2023 and has started operating to supply natural gas to the Kendal Industrial Estate since November 17, 2023 and the Batang Industrial Estate since July 27, 2024.

For information, this national strategic project (PSN) worth IDR 2.8 trillion is funded through the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN) and implemented with an integrated construction procurement scheme for Design and Build (design and Build). This scheme was chosen given the complexity and urgency of project implementation.
