Design Competition (Kategori A) can be followed by designers and illustrators, with a total prize of IDR 65 million. Later these works will be judged by a jury consisting of Bethania Brigitta (seniman), Muklay (seniman), and Welly Gunawan (President Director of PT Sekar Laut, Tbk).
Meanwhile, Art Prize (Kategori B) is intended for emerging artists to mid-career, with a total prize of IDR 90 million. The works sent will be judged by a jury consisting of Asmujo Jono Irianto (lecturers, curators, and artists), Bob Edrian (curator), and Elizabeth (Owner Orasis Art Space).
Welliam Cung representing FINNA said this competition was an effort by his side to support the sustainability of art in Indonesia. He saw that the industry could run side by side with the arts.
"Why do we hold this FINNA Art of the Year, because we believe that art has an important role in shaping perspectives and enriching culture," Welliam said at a press conference at Blok M, South Jakarta, Friday, May 9.
What Welliam said was agreed by Asmujo Jono Irianto, who felt that support from the private sector felt that it was not directly related to the arts was also needed in the sustainability of the art itself.
"As a judge, I give awards for FINNA who want to contribute to the arts. This is rare," said Asmujo. This art can be seen as their CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility), because art is purely for good image, which is intended for art without profit to the company itself.
Bob Edrian added, "This competition is a medium to attract a lot of new potentials. The hope is that open calls in this competition can call many artists in Indonesia. The hope is that this competition will become a meeting room for art actors with parties like FINNA."
