Banned 3 Years Ago, SpaceX Ready To Present Starlink In India
JAKARTA After three years, Starlink will be officially launched in India. The satellite internet service from SpaceX has obtained permission from the local telecommunications agency to operate.
On May 7, reported by TechCrunch, India's Department of Telecommunications gave Starlink the green light. SpaceX was also asked to submit documents stating that they would comply with the rules in the country.
In addition, this document must also show that SpaceX has met the requirements provided. The company must definitely comply with the rules made specifically for Global Mobile Personal Communication by Satellite (GMPCS) operators.
This rule not only targets Starlink, but other communications satellites such as Amazon's Kuiper. With the issuance of this rule some time ago, Indian governments can censor or tap traffic, including limiting user terminal access.
Starlink attendance preparations are also quite long. SpaceX must obtain permission from India's National Space Authority Promotion Center (IN-SPACE) to activate its satellite service.

From this long process, a source familiar with the matter stated that the official Starlink launch in India will not take place in time. Chances are, the process will take six to nine months.
Three years ago, SpaceX had problems with the local government for launching Starlink in India without obtaining permission from regulators. The company was also reprimanded for opening a pre-order period to consumers.
Starlink is also asked to return pre-order money. Although not on good terms for several years, the future of Starlink has begun to appear in India. This will be good news for people waiting for satellite connectivity from SpaceX.
