The Minister Of Transportation Ensures That The Reactivation Of The Train Line In West Java Proposes KDM To Continue To Be Reviewed

Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi stated that the reactivation of railway lines in West Java is still in the stage of a thorough study to ensure the complete social, economic and technical feasibility. This reactivation proposal was previously submitted by West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi (KDM).

The Minister of Transportation said that reactivation can be carried out on old routes that still have re-existing, but the government still needs to see how far this route can be used again for transportation services.

"If the tracks are already there, if they are reactivated, because there are existing tracks. So, we will see first, we will review first," said the Minister of Transportation as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, May 8.

The Minister of Transportation emphasized the central government's support for the West Java Government's initiative to reactivate train lines as part of strengthening inter-regional connectivity in the province.

However, Dudy explained that the reactivation process could not be carried out in a hurry because it had to go through a feasibility study which included various aspects of planning and estimation of development fund needs.

According to him, the government will wait for the results of the study to determine the timing of the reactivation, including the stages of development and the amount of the budget needed in the process in a realistic manner.

He said the budget for the reactivation project of the railway line is usually quite large, so all stages must be carefully designed to be in line with the goals of sustainable transportation development.

"Everything must be studied socially, economically and so on. We will see from the results of the study. Then we will plan about how long it will take, including the need for funds and so on," said the Minister of Transportation.

Previously, West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi revealed that the reactivation of the Bandung - Pangandaran train line was the first focus of West Java Province, compared to other reactivation plans.

"Our reactivation is the closest to the train line from Bandung to Pangandaran. That's what currently existence has only reached Banjar, we make that our first priority is to complete it," said Dedi Mulyadi in a statement in Bandung, Wednesday (16/4).

Dedi said the West Java Provincial Government would maximize the potential of West Java tourism by utilizing a train which he said was the cheapest transportation.

According to Dedi, trains can support tourism because of its mass and anti-acet nature.

"The train is actually the cheapest transportation route, this is the mass transportation, because mass transportation is easy to mobilize people," said Dedi.
