Remove TB Through Joint Movements From Villages And Sub-Districts
JAKARTA - The case of Tuberculosis (TBC) in Indonesia is still recorded at more than one million per year, with around 125 thousand of them ending in death.
Main Expert Staff of the Presidential Communication Office Hariqo Wibawa Satria said President Prabowo Subianto's administration is committed to protecting all Indonesians, by accelerating the elimination of this disease, so that it will no longer be a major health problem in the country.
Accelerate the elimination of TB cases is carried out through strengthening the Joint Movement of Villages and Alert Villages of TB.
"Why do we need a joint movement? Because to suppress TB, we need collaboration and cross-sectoral synergy. The role of village and sub-district officials at the city and district levels is very decisive in empowering the community against this disease. We are optimistic, because our nation's cohesiveness and togetherness are getting stronger. This is reflected in the success of the Red and White Cabinet and all regional heads, which were attended and equipped directly by President Prabowo Subianto," he said in a written statement, Thursday, May 8.
In order to realize the strengthening of commitments and concrete actions in joint efforts to eradicate TB, the Ministry of Health launched the Joint Movement for Strengthening Villages and Siaga TB Sub-districts, on Friday, May 9, 2025.
This National Movement is centered at the Rambutan Village Office, Ciracas District, East Jakarta and can be watched live on television as well as the Indonesian Ministry of Health's youtube account.
The high number of cases in the country, which reaches one million cases per year, puts Indonesia in second place with the most TBs under India. Globally, this deadly disease still infects more than 10 million people with cases of death above one million.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has set a target for TB elimination by reducing its incidence to less than one case per million population by 2050.
The government, explained Hariqo, wants to accelerate the elimination of TB in Indonesia by 2030 or 20 years faster than the global WHO target. Even by 2025, it is targeted to achieve 90% case detection, 100% treatment initiation, and treatment success rate above 80%. To achieve these targets, the government sets various concrete strategies

The Ministry of Health has established a number of strategies, including strengthening promotion and prevention, utilizing technology, integrating data with hospitals and health centers, including developing and adopting vaccines that are better for prevention. This is part of the implementation of Asta Cita, Priority Program and the Fastest Products Program from the Government today.
In fact, the government has been free of TB treatment since 2016. However, this government effort needs to be strengthened with a joint commitment between the community and the involvement of the apparatus, starting from the village and sub-district levels, so that the response strategy can run more effectively.
Through the Joint Movement of Villages and Siaga TBC Sub-districts, TB response strategies were developed, including treatment CONTROL, contact investigations, termination of TB stigma, transportation and access to treatment, and others, whose work is regionally based from below, namely through villages and sub-districts, in a sustainable manner.
TB completion is the Best Rapid Result Program (PHTC) or quick win of the President and Vice President in 2025. Infected with TB is not the end of everything. TB can be cured with proper and disciplined treatment. Therefore, with respect, we urge, let's stop the stigma and negative thoughts that actually hinder healing. Immediately visit the Puskesmas in the nearest village or sub-district. TB treatment is available for free from the government, "said Hariqo.
