India Prevents Pakistan Attack On Military Target

JAKARTA - Pakistan shot down 25 drones from India in its airspace. Meanwhile, India said it was "implementing" Pakistan's efforts to strike military targets with drones and missiles.

The latest information comes a day after India attacked what it called the "terrorist infrastructure" in Pakistan on Wednesday morning.

The attack comes two weeks after India accused the Islamic state of being involved in an attack on India'stensives that killed 26 people - most Hindu tourists.

Islamabad denied the allegations and vowed to retaliate against the missile attack.

Pakistan shot down 25 Israeli-made drones from India in several locations, including the two largest cities of Karachi and Lahore, and its debris is being collected, said Pakistani military spokesman Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry.

A drone was also shot down over the state town of Rawalpindi, where Pakistan's heavily fortified army headquarters is located.

One drone hit a military target near Lahore and four Pakistani army personnel were injured in this attack.

"Indian unmanned aircraft continue to be delivered to Pakistan's airspace. (India) will continue to pay dearly for this blatant aggression," he said.

India's Ministry of Defense said Pakistan attempted to strike a number of military targets in northern and western India in the early hours of Wednesday and Thursday and they were "contactized" by India's air defense systems.

In response, Indian troops targeted radar and air defense systems at a number of locations in Pakistan on Thursday. The Defense Ministry said India's response was in the same region with the same intensity as Pakistan".

Pakistan has also increased its shooting intensity across ceasefire lines, de facto borders, intensifies and 16 people, including five children and three women, killed by the Indian side, the statement said.

Relations between India and Pakistan have been fraught with tension since they gained independence from colonial Britain in 1947, and the two countries have fought three wars, two of which have fought overaims, and clashed many times.

Both acquired nuclear weapons in the 1990s.

Trade was suspended on Pakistan's benchmark stock index after the index slumped 6.3% due to news of a drone strike. India's equity, rupees, and bonds fell sharply in the afternoon trade following a statement by the Indian defense ministry.
