Freddy Widjaya Returns To Legal Path, Claims To Have 13 Trillion Rights In Conglomerate Eka Tjipta Widjaya's Heritage Dispute

Freddy Widjaya, son of the wife of the fourth founder of Sinar Mas, Eka Tjipta Widjaja, stated that he continued to fight for his heirs' rights which were said to be worth up to Rp. 13 trillion. He rejected the Supreme Court's decision to cancel his status as a legitimate child, and assessed that there were irregularities in the legal process and the distribution of inheritance assets.

Freddy claims that his father has acknowledged the whereabouts of himself, his mother Lidia Herawati, and her two siblings through Deed No. 236 of 1991. In the notary document, Eka Tjipta is said to list all the names of his wife and children. Freddy emphasized that the deed was valid and had never been canceled.

However, in 2005 '2008, three new wills emerged which Freddy called 'odd' because he only mentioned the first wife and children of his first wife. 'My father was retired and sick at that time. It's strange that only one wife and several children were mentioned,' said Freddy accompanied by a lawyer from the Sunan Kalijaga Legal Office at a press conference at a Korean restaurant in the Region, Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta, Thursday, May 8.

According to Freddy, the current value of Sinar Mas Group's legacy reaches IDR 720 trillion. He estimates that total net assets, after deducting debt, reach IDR 360 trillion. If referring to the provisions of the Civil Code and the Constitutional Court's decision Number 46/PUU-VIII/2010, Freddy considers himself, as the legitimate child of an unregistered marriage civilly, still has inheritance rights.

"There used to be an offer of IDR 1 trillion, but after I calculated it based on public data and the company ownership structure, I should have earned IDR 13 trillion," he said. Freddy claims to have a deed of establishment of the company which proves that the initial funds all came from his father, not from the children of his first wife as now in control of the business group.

One of his legal team, Agustinus Nahak, SH who accompanied him during a press conference added that mediation and negotiations were still open. We do not close the door of peace. But if there is no common ground, of course we will take a civil route, even a crime if necessary, "said Agustinus Nahak.

Freddy also stated that until now, all children from their second to fifth wives have never received dividends or shares from Sinar Mas. In fact, according to him, they are sent to school abroad, but are prohibited from being involved in the company.

Freddy hopes that justice will be served. I will continue to fight. It's not just about money, but about truth and respect for the confession that has been made by my late father himself," he said.
