Two Judges Freed Ronald Tannur Sentenced To 7 Years, Lower Than Claims

The inactive judges of the Surabaya District Court, Erintuah Damanik and Mangapul, were found guilty in the alleged bribery and gratification case related to Gregorius Ronald Tannur's acquittal. Thus, both were sentenced to 7 years in prison.

"Therefore, the defendant is sentenced to 7 years in prison," said the chairman of the panel of judges, Teguh Santoso, during a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Thursday, May 8.

Not only criminal, both of them were also sentenced to a fine of Rp. 500 million, provided that if they did not pay, they would be replaced with imprisonment for 3 months.

The verdict is of course with several considerations, such as aggravating things, namely the two of them have violated the oath of office as judges.

"The defendant's actions violated the oath of office as a judge," said Judge Teguh.

Erintuah and Mangapul were also declared not to support government programs in the context of organizing a clean and free state from collusion, corruption and nepotism (KKN).

Meanwhile, what relieves Erintuah and Mangapul is that they still have family responsibilities. Erintuah and Mangapul have been cooperative by admitting their actions and providing information that can support evidence in other cases on behalf of Heru Hanindyo, Lisa Rachmat, Zarof Ricar and Merizka Widjaja.

"The defendant in good faith has returned the money received from Lisa Rachmat and the defendant has never been convicted," said the judge.

It is known that the verdict was lower than the prosecutor's demands. This is because Erintuah and Mangapul were originally sentenced to 9 years in prison and a fine of Rp. 750 million.
