Prabowo Asks For Accelerated PPRT Bill Discussion, DPR Still Collects Input
JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto urged the DPR to immediately complete the discussion of the Draft Law on the Protection of Domestic Workers (RUU PPRT). Meanwhile, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, stated that the DPR still accommodates various inputs from the public before continuing the legislative process.
According to Puan, the DPR is currently holding a public hearing (RDPU) as part of the stage of discussing the PPRT Bill.
"Mulai masa sidang ini kita sudah melaksanakan RDPU, artinya mendengar pendapat dan masukan dari masyarakat," ujarnya kepada wartawan pada Kamis 8 Mei.
In the RDPU, the DPR summoned various elements of society, including household workers, employers, and institutions that care about employment issues.
At least we need to hear three main parties, namely employers, workers, and beneficiaries. Everything must be involved," explained Puan.
Puan emphasized that the process of collecting input takes time so that the substance of the bill really favors and provides real protection for household workers. He also emphasized the importance of careful discussion so that the resulting regulations are truly effective and fair.
After the RDPU is completed, the DPR will bring the PPRT Bill to a further discussion.
"Later on from the results of the input, we will decide whether it is discussed in the commission or directly to the legislative body," he continued.
