Father And Son Of Nasi Uduk Trader In Pademangan, Jakut, Died, Wife Burned 70 Percent

A tragic fire broke out in a residence in the North Jakarta area on Thursday morning, May 8, 2025, on Gang E Street, West Pedemangan, Pademangan, North Jakarta (Jakut). Two people were reported killed in the incident, namely a father and daughter.

Head of the Operational Section of the North Jakarta Fire and Rescue (Gulkarmat) Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman, said the dead were Suryadi (55) and his daughter, Egi (22). Meanwhile, his wife managed to survive, but suffered serious burns.

"His wife suffered burns about 70 percent and was rushed to the hospital for medical treatment," Gatot said when confirmed.

Allegedly, the fire was triggered by an explosion of gas cylinders while the victim's wife was cooking rice. The family is known to be a nasi uduk trader, and is preparing to sell when the incident occurred.

When cooking, there was an explosion from the gas cylinder in the kitchen. At that time, the victim's wife was in front of the house. Not long after, sparks appeared and the fire broke out," explained Gatot.

A total of 11 fire engines and 55 personnel were dispatched to the location. Officers received a fire report at 03.21 WIB and managed to extinguish the fire at around 05.26 WIB.

"During the cooling process, two bodies of the victims were found on fire," said Gatot.

Until now, the authorities are still investigating further the exact cause of the fire.
