South Kalimantan Develops Sultan Adam's Tahura To Become An Environmentally Friendly Tourism

JAKARTA - Environmental conservation efforts continue to be promoted by the Provincial Government of South Kalimantan through the management of sustainable conservation areas.

One of the real steps is the development of the Sultan Adam Grand Forest Park (Tahura), which is designed not only as a tourist area, but also as a center for education and natural conservation.

The South Kalimantan Forestry Service (Dishut Kalsel) is finalizing a number of conservation-based tourist destination development programs in the Sultan Adam Tahura area. In a coordination meeting that was held recently, Dishut collaborated with various parties, including the private sector, to support the conservation program.

"We are involving a number of companies in this development plan, so that the existence of natural tourism in Tahura is not only visually attractive, but also in line with the forest conservation function," said Secretary of the South Kalimantan Dishut, Kinta Ambarasti, in Banjarbaru, as quoted by ANTARA.

During the meeting, a number of strategic agendas were discussed, such as the preparation of the grand opening of the PT Shafwah Global Utama Nature Tourism area and the commemoration of World Environment Day 2025 which will be centered at Tahura Sultan Adam.

According to Kinta, his party wants to create a comfortable visit atmosphere but still prioritizes educative, recreative, and conservative value in the forest area. Our focus is on making Tahura Sultan Adam an example of conservation-based tourism areas that provide ecological, social, and economic benefits," he explained.

The meeting also alluded to the plan to manage natural tourism facilities and licensing mechanisms for business actors, such as PT HNR Park Lane, which acts as a consultant in regional development.

The South Kalimantan Dishut together with the Tahura manager will also provide further assistance to the design of the facility designed by the consultant. It is emphasized that the design needs to represent forest conservation and biodiversity values.

To note, the official opening of the natural tourism area by PT Shafwah Global Utama is scheduled to take place on May 28, 2025 with the title Kalsel Park Tahura Sultan Adam. Meanwhile, another big agenda, Tahura Fest, will be held in June 2025 to commemorate World Environment Day, with the theme State Cares for Mitigation and Handling of Forestry'.

"Through the development of natural tourism that is integrated with environmental conservation, we hope that Tahura Sultan Adam will become a national pilot in managing conservation areas," concluded Kinta.
