Belawan Police Chief Deactivated Due To Shooting Of Armed Persons, This Is Kompolnas' Response
The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) assessed that the actions of the North Sumatra Police (North Sumatra) deactivated the Belawan Port Police Chief (Polres) AKBP Oloan Siahaan from his position as a positive step related to the shooting that caused the death of a teenager with the initials MS who was suspected of being the perpetrator of a brawl.
"In my opinion, this is a positive step as a note because to ensure that all processes that we carry out have no influence from the police chief," said Kompolnas MemberChoirul Anam as quoted by ANTARA.
He said that the deactivation of the Belawan Harbor Police Chief carried out by the North Sumatra Police was also a step to ensure accountability and transparency.
According to him, the actions taken by the North Sumatra Police should be a role model for all Polda or other Polres.
Including, said Anam, when Kompolnas came to the North Sumatra Police, it was very open, which was considered a positive step to guarantee the process in showing accountability and transparency of the institution.
He explained that his party was still conducting detailed research regarding the shooting carried out by the Belawan Police Chief, so that the real problem could be known.
"If there is an action threat like what kind of action, whether it is measured or not, if it is measured how accountability is held in relation to reporting the use of weapons and others, that is what we are investigating," he said.
Previously, North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Whisnu Hermawan Februanto said the chronology of the shooting that caused the alleged perpetrator of a teenage brawl with the initials MS, started from a brawl between villages in the Medan Labuhan District, Medan, toll roads on Sunday (4/5) in the morning.
"At that time the Police Chief crossed the toll road, there was a throwing of several vehicles crossing the place," he said.
Belawan Port Police Chief took to the location to break up the brawl, but the community resisted
"So, the Police Chief exercise discretion to shoot a crowd of people who tried to disturb around the toll road, there were victims. We are sorry because someone died this morning at the hospital," he said.
