Hasan Nasbi Considers The Role Of PCO And The President's Spokesperson Tak Tumpang Tindih

JAKARTA - Head of the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) Hasan Nasbi said the role between himself and Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi as the Presidential Spokesperson did not overlap.

"So, actually, if the Minister of State Secretary wants to be more active in talking, it will not overlap at all because it is certain that what was conveyed by the Minister of State Secretary was also part of the things we must also convey," Hasan said as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 6.

Hasan stated that the duties and functions of the Presidential Communications office have been regulated in the presidential regulation (perpres).

Meanwhile, he said, the Minister of State Secretary as the most senior official at the Palace has the authority to convey any information related to government policies.

He explained that his party remains consistent in carrying out its duties in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 82 of 2024 concerning the Presidential Communication Office, namely communicating strategic information related to President Prabowo's Astacita vision and other priority programs.

"But yes, the Minister of State Secretary can also say anything because he knows all government policies best," Hasan said.

Previously, the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi confirmed the news about his role as Spokesperson for President Prabowo Subianto.

"There is no need to be inaugurated, we are all expected to be spokespersons, especially if I am in the position of Minister of State Secretary, we are also asked to be active," said Prasetyo, Thursday (17/4).

When asked about his role as a spokesperson compared to the Presidential Communication Office, Prasetyo emphasized that there was no difference or change.

"Everyone together, PCO is still, so we are still asked to help," he said.

Hasan Nasbi had announced his resignation as Head of PCO. However, recently Hasan conveyed that he was asked to continue his duties to lead the institution.

"I met with the President, then I met with the Minister of State Secretary, met with Mr. Seskab, and at that moment I was ordered to continue my task of leading the PCO office. So, that's about the situation," Hasan said.
