The National Police Holds Major Operations To Fight Thugs
JAKARTA - The National Police held a simultaneous Regional Police Operation which began on May 1, 2025. This operation targets acts of thuggery that are increasingly rampant and disturbing the community, and has the potential to disrupt the stability of national security and investment climates.
This step is contained in Telegram Letter Number: STR/1081/IV/OPS.1.3./2025, which is addressed to all levels of Polda and Polres in Indonesia. The operation is carried out with a law enforcement approach supported by intelligence, pre-emptive, and preventive activities.
"The National Police is committed to eradicating acts of thuggery that have been a concern for the community and have the potential to hinder investment. This operation aims to take firm action against the perpetrators and reveal a network of perpetrators of thuggery as a whole," said Head of Public Relations Division of the National Police Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko in his statement, Tuesday, May 6.
Trunoyudo emphasized that the types of crimes that became the focus of taking action in the operation were extortion, illegal levies, threats, intimidation, beatings, and persecution carried out by individuals and groups.

The National Police will also establish synergies with the TNI, local governments, and relevant stakeholders in the implementation of this operation. Cross-sector coordination is considered crucial to ensure the success of operations and create long-term stability.
"Premanism in any form that disturbs public order and the business climate will be dealt with firmly. This is part of efforts to create a sense of security and legal certainty, especially for business actors in Indonesia," Trunoyudo said.
