Anthropic Launches AI For Science Program: Support AI-Based Scientific Research

JAKARTA - A leading artificial intelligence company from the United States, Anthropic, officially launched the AI for Science Program, an initiative to support researchers in developing AI technology-based scientific projects.

In this program, selected researchers will have the opportunity to receive an Anthropic API credit of up to 20,000 US dollars or around IDR 328 million.

This program is open to individuals aged at least 18 years, as well as teams or academic institutions that have obtained permission from related institutions.

However, in its official announcement, Anthropic said that citizens from several countries such as Russia, China, North Korea, Iran, and Syria were not eligible to register due to applicable legal and export restrictions.

Every first Monday of each month, Anthropic will choose the winning application from eligible registration. They emphasized that this election was based on objective evaluation and biosecurity assessment.

Selected researchers will be notified via email, and are required to sign compliance documents to program rules. And if there is no response within 5 working days, Anthropic can choose another alternative candidate.

Anthropic also emphasized that the API credit given was not cash prizes and could have different tax implications in each country. Therefore, participants are asked to consult with their respective tax advisors.

Anthropic has the right to cancel, stop, modify, or suspend the Program on its own policies," the company wrote in the announcement.

This program reflects Anthropic's commitment to supporting responsible and transparent scientific research. Anthropic also encourages collaboration between the scientific community and AI technology to solve global challenges.
