Trump Wants To Cooperate With Erdogan To End Russia-Ukraine War
JAKARTA - United States President Donald Trump said he wanted to cooperate with his partner, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to resolve the conflict in Ukraine.
"I look forward to working with President Erdogan to end a ridiculous but deadly war between Russia and Ukraine, now!" he wrote in Truth Social after a telephone conversation with the Turkish president, reported TASS May 6.
According to the post on social media, the two presidents discussed Ukraine, Syria and Gaza (Palestinian) and agreed to exchange visits.
President Erdogan's office previously said that during talks Leader Angkara expressed his intention to develop cooperation with Washington in various fields, especially the defense industry.
He also said that Ankara appreciated Uncle Sam's country's efforts to hold talks with Iran.
Trump, who vowed to end Ukraine's war within 24 hours of starting his second term in January, has urged Kyiv and Moscow to reach a ceasefire agreement.
Turkey, a member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), has been working to maintain good relations with its two neighboring countries in the Black Sea since the 2022 Moscow invasion and has twice hosted talks aimed at ending the war.
