Controls Haid During Hajj, Check Out Safe Tips For Consumption Of Hormonal Drugs
JAKARTA - Managing a menstrual schedule during the pilgrimage is an important concern for female pilgrims. One way that is commonly used is to postpone menstruation with the help of hormonal drugs so that worship can be carried out more calmly and not be disturbed by the arrival of menstruation.
According to dr. Cepi Teguh Pramayadi, Sp.OG(K)FER, MARS, an obstetric and gynecologist specialist from the University of Indonesia Hospital (RSUI), the use of hormonal drugs can be a practical solution to regulate menstrual cycles.
He explained that the use of this drug aims to change the menstrual phase so that bleeding does not occur during the worship period.
"This drug usually contains the hormone progesteron. With proper consumption, menstruation can be postponed until the worship is over," said dr. Cepi when interviewed as quoted by ANTARA.
The best time to start taking menstrual drugs is about 14 days before the next menstrual estimate, or right in the middle of the menstrual cycle. To make it easier, women can use the application of recording menstrual cycles to determine the ideal start time.
For example, if someone expects menstruation to come on May 30, then drugs should start taking on May 16. The recommended dose is twice a day, and must continue to be consumed until the entire series of worship is complete. Termination of consumption before the time can cause menstruation to arrive earlier than expected.

However, in some cases, even if drugs are consumed according to the instructions, blood spots or spots may appear. If this happens, dr. Cepi recommends raising the dose to three times a day until the spots stop, then returning to the initial dose twice a day.
"Spotting is not menstruating. It is usually due to uterine depletion due to hormonal influences, and is still allowed to worship," he explained.
Although this hormone drug is generally safe, some users may feel mild side effects such as nausea or dizziness at the beginning of consumption. This effect usually does not interfere with daily activities significantly.
Doctor Cepi, who is also active at Primaya Evasari Hospital, emphasized the importance of medical consultation before taking hormonal drugs, especially for those with certain health conditions such as high blood pressure or a history of stroke.
"The use of this drug is not prohibited for people with hypertension or those who take antihypertension drugs, but must be under the supervision of a doctor," he concluded.
