Hot Weather In The Holy Land, Doctors Express How To Maintain Skin Health During Hajj

JAKARTA - The increase in the pilgrimage in the hot sun of Saudi Arabia requires special attention, especially in maintaining skin health. High temperatures and low humidity can cause dry skin, irritation, to burn the sun if not treated properly.

Dermatologist and Aesthetic Specialist, dr. Fitria Amalia Umar, Sp.KK, M.Kes, provides some important suggestions for prospective pilgrims to maintain skin condition while in the holy land. He suggested bringing protective equipment such as broad hats, sunglasses, and skin care products that match the hot weather.

"Use sunscreen and moisturizer that is safe for sensitive and perfume-free skin. Sunscreen should be re-implemented every 23 hours, or every time exposed to direct sunlight. While moisturizers can be used every time you shower or whenever the skin feels dry," said dr. Fitria when contacted in Jakarta, as quoted by ANTARA.

In addition, he recommends the use of face mists to maintain moisture in facial skin, as well as to avoid direct sun exposure without protection. Maintaining fluid intake is also very important.

Drink at least eight glasses of water per day and eat healthy and balanced foods. If necessary, add antioxidant supplements to help maintain endurance," he added.

If the skin experiences irritation, excess dryness, or burns due to sunlight, regular use of moisturizers can help relieve these conditions. For more severe cases, it is better to use an antiirritation bailout according to medical advice.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Religion has reminded Indonesian pilgrims to be aware of extreme hot weather during the Hajj season of 1446 H/2025 AD, especially during the peak of worship in Arafah. The Head of the Public Relations and Public Communication Bureau of the Ministry of Religion, Akhmad Fauzin, said that the temperature in Medina is predicted to reach 35 degrees Celsius with a low humidity of around 14 percent.
