Looking Closer To L8, Model From Chery's New Sub-Brand Release Brand

JAKARTA Chery introduced his newest sub-brand named Release, which is predicted to enliven the Indonesian automotive market in the near future. During a visit to Chery's headquarters in Wuhu, China last week, the VOI team had the opportunity to see the first model of this brand firsthand: Release L8.

After the L8, it appears for the first time in the world with a design that highlights the aura of sporty and futuristic. The front is sweetened with a large luxurious styl and sharp-shaped headlights resembling the eye, creating a modern and aggressive character.

In China's domestic market, L8 is positioned as an intermediate SUV whose dimension is in the same class as Tiggo 8 Plus. This car has a length of 4,715 mm, a width of 1,860 mm, a height of 1,745 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,710 mm is quite proportional to family cars and urban users.

Regarding performance, L8 is estimated to carry a 4-cylindrical gasoline engine as fresh as turbo, such as Tiggo 8 Plus. The 1.6-liter engine variant is capable of producing 197 PS and 290-Nm torque power, while the 2.0-liter version emits up to 254 PS with 390-Nm torque.

Apart from L8, the VOI team also encountered other models from Release, namely L6 and L4. Both of them come with similar designs, still relying on the characteristics of futuristic grip and eye-shaped pincher that blends with the visual identity of this brand.

The name "Lelepas" itself turns out to be not just a name, but an acronym for the words Leap and passion which symbolizes a dynamic spirit, vitality, as well as a combination of splendor and courage. After the launch of L8, the Off product line will be expanded to various key segments.

Interestingly, Release is designed as a global brand with export orientation. Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, is said to be one of the main target markets, in addition to the Middle East and South America. Will Indonesia be the next launch destination? We are waiting for the good news.
