Real Tolerance: Batang Residents Welcome Bickers With Prayers And Smiles
The Batang Regency Government, Central Java, warmly welcomed the arrival of 36 monks from various countries who were traveling on a Thudong spiritual trip to Borobudur Temple, Magelang, to welcome Vesak Day 2025.
The Thudong ritual is a tradition of cross-border walking carried out by monks as a form of spiritual practice and respect for Buddhist teachings.
"We welcome you and thank you for stopping at the Batang Regency Government on a spiritual trip to Borobudur," said Deputy Regent of Batang Suyono, Antara, Sunday, May 4.
The arrival of the monks was greeted enthusiastically by the local community who showed the spirit of tolerance and harmony among religious believers.
"We only ask for prayers from the monks so that this area is always given peace and peace," added Suyono.
As a form of appreciation and memories, Deputy Regent Suyono also received bracelets from monks. One of the monks participating in Thudong from Indonesia, Bhante Wawan, said that the remarks from residents and the government were very friendly and impressive.
"Thebutan given is extraordinary. Residents are friendly and smiling every time we see each other, it's still like before," he said.
