Jakarta Will Become A Football 'Resident', Governor Pramono Is Ready For All Out

JAKARTA - The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, emphasized his commitment to making Jakarta a sport tourism destination, especially football, internationally standard.

This was conveyed by Pramono after opening the 2025 Governor's Cup U-17 League competition at the UMBAU Pancoran Soccer Field (PSF) Field, South Jakarta, Sunday, May 4.

"Jakarta will be a destination for football tourism, sports tourism. Thus, we really encourage sports matches in Jakarta, including football," Pramono said as quoted by Antara.

According to him, in the future, Jakarta will not only become a center of government and business, but also a center for global sports coaching and viewing.

This year, the Governor's Cup U-17 League is attended by 18 clubs. This event is expected to be able to attract young Jakarta talents who can appear in the 2028 National Sports Week (PON) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"Today Jakarta will start a new tradition of looking for players from a league like this. Hopefully the talented players will grow up from Jakarta, and that's what I want," he said.

Pramono also expressed his hope that Persija Jakarta would build a new tradition with its citizens and loyal supporters, JakMania, by making City Hall a symbol of revival, not only when it won.

"I have conveyed to the Chairman of JakMania, I don't want JakMania to come to City Hall only when he won. But like yesterday, we want to start a new tradition, because it is from City Hall that Persija will win," said Pramono.
