Azis Syamsuddin Targeted By KPK, Airlangga: There Will Be A Time!

JAKARTA - Golkar Party Chairman Airlangga Hartarto has raised his voice regarding the alleged involvement of Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Azis Syamsuddin in a case currently being handled by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

Azis is suspected of being involved in a bribery case involving KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju and the Mayor of Tanjungbalai, North Sumatra, M. Syahrial.

Airlangga said there would be a time when the Golkar party discussed the Azis Syamsuddin problem.

"There will be time," he said briefly at the Golkar DPP office, Slipi, Jakarta, Thursday evening, April 29.

Previously, KPK investigators visited the DPR building, Wednesday evening, April 28. Allegedly, the arrival of investigators to search the office of Deputy Speaker of the DPR Azis Syamsuddin.

In addition, the KPK also searched Azis Syamsuddin's official residence. From these two locations, the KPK confiscated a number of documents related to the case.

However, the KPK has not specified what documents were secured. Because, after being confiscated the document was being examined by investigators.

The KPK named its investigator, Stepanus Robin Pattuju, a lawyer named Maskur Husain and the Mayor of Tanjungbalai M. Syahrial as suspects in the alleged bribery case in the handling of the case of sale and purchase of positions at the Tanjungbalai City Government.

Stepanus Robin Pattuju and Maskur Husain are suspected of having received a bribe from M. Syahrial amounting to Rp 1.3 billion from the Rp 1.5 billion deal. The bribe was given so that Stepanus would help stop the investigation into the alleged sale and purchase of positions in Tanjungbalai that the KPK is currently investigating.

Apart from the bribe from Syahrial, Maskur Husain is also suspected of receiving Rp 200 million from another party. Meanwhile, Stepanus from October 2020 to April 2021 is also suspected of receiving money from other parties through bank transfer in the name of Riefka Amalia, amounting to IDR 438 million.

The initial collusion in this case began when Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian Parliament Azis Syamsuddin introduced Stepanus and M Syahrial at his official residence. This Golkar Party politician is suspected of knowing Stepanus from his aide who is both from the Bhayangkara Corps.
