Car Hits Crowd In Stuttgart Germany, 8 People Injured
Eight people were injured, three of whom were seriously injured, after the car hit a crowd in the center of Germany's Stuttgart city. Police called this incident a "tragistic" traffic accident.
The car driver has been detained, police said, stressing that there is no longer any danger that threatens residents.
"There are currently no indications of intentional attacks or actions," Stuttgart police said on X.
The accident occurred shortly before 6pm, Friday, May 2 local time near the Olgaeck tram station.
The Bild newspaper quoted eyewitnesses as saying a woman in a baby train was hit by a black Mercedes G-Class SUV.
The area of the incident was closed by police who advised pedestrians and drivers to avoid the area whenever possible.
