10 Thugs Of Payment Become Suspects, South Jakarta Police Pursue Mastermind Of Attack In Kemang

The South Jakarta Metro Police have named 10 hired thugs as suspects in a case of clashes that occurred on the disputed land on Jalan Kemang Raya, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta, on Wednesday, April 30.

The brutal action was triggered by an attempt to take over the land by a group of people known as "security services." They came armed fully, ranging from air rifles to machetes, and caused panic and congestion at the site.

The Joint Opsnal Team of the South Jakarta Police Criminal Investigation Unit led by the Head of Ranmor South Jakarta Metro Police, Iptu Teddy Rohendi and the Head of Subunit VC South Jakarta Metro Police, Ipda Adithya Aji Pratama STr.K., MH managed to secure 27 people.

The Head of General Crime Unit of the South Jakarta Metro Police, AKP Igo Fazar Akbar, said that out of a total of 27 people who were arrested, 10 people were proven to be involved and named suspects.

"These ten perpetrators are a security service group. They did not have time to receive payment before being arrested," said Igo at a press conference at the South Jakarta Police Headquarters, Friday, May 2.

The police are now hunting for the mastermind behind the attack.

"We are still investigating who ordered and paid them," he continued.

Chronology Of Clashes

Riots broke out at around 09.00 WIB, when the perpetrators arrived at the location carrying sharp weapons and a PVC air rifle that was previously stored in the trunk of a yellow Toyota Agya.

The incident began with the meeting of three main actors AK alias Andy, MAG alias Ade, and KT alias A who agreed to take over the land. Tensions escalated as one of the perpetrators hit the wall with a hammer, sparking clashes between the two camps.

"The commotion lasted about 10 minutes before the police arrived and dispersed the crowd," said Head of Public Relations of the South Jakarta Metro Police, Kompol Murohih.

The arrests of Beruntun Penangkapan against the perpetrators were carried out in stages:

KT alias A and seven of his colleagues were arrested at the basecamp on Jalan Prapanca Raya at 17.00 WIB.

AK and MAG were secured at night on Jalan Pangeran Antasari.

Two other perpetrators, RTA and WRR, surrendered in the early hours of Thursday (1/5/2025).

Evidence And Threat Of Punishment

From the scene and the results of the search, the police confiscated:

4 air rifles,

3 machetes,

1 unit of Toyota Agya,

8 cell phones,

and 6 pieces of clothing belonging to the perpetrator.

The ten suspects were charged with Article 1 Paragraph 1 and Article 2 Paragraph 1 of the Emergency Law No. 12 of 1951 concerning possession and abuse of sharp weapons and air rifles. They face up to 20 years in prison.
