Exclusive Satine Zaneta: Find Yourself Through Music And Acting

JAKARTA Young actress Satine Zaneta revealed an in-depth process in preparing for the role of Ningrum in the horror film of the Devil's Devils Derivative action. In an interview at VOI's office on Friday, March 21, Satine admitted that this role challenged her physically and emotionally, especially because Ningrum's character had a psychological depth and demands for high physical action.

"Chat a lot with Mr. Tommy, of course. Talk a lot with the director. Read a lot of scripts too. Then maybe at that time I was also in a phase where, I happened to be really overthinking. And I would say, I and Ningrum have something in common with it, we go deeper, think deeply, "said Satine, telling the process of deepening the role.

He explained that although they have similarities with Ningrum's character in their way of thinking, their way of expressing emotions is opposite.

From a physical point of view, Satine admitted that she had no martial arts background before the project started. Therefore, he had to start from scratch to learn the techniques of fighting in order to play in this horror film of his debut.

"Because I don't have a martial arts background. I really defend myself from zero here. The most self-defense is taught by my father at home, like what kind of horses. The process is from zero until finally I can really memorize and the movement must be fluent and believable. So indirectly become direct self-defense too. That's the most challenging thing, "said Satine.

He added that the training period took three months, with the initial phase as the heaviest period.

"Actually, it was 3 months. But at the beginning of the 3 months it was the most felt time. Because it was like the movement (difficult). Well, after that, I took 3 weeks. After that, thank God it went smoothly, because the very supportive and stunt team weren't like that. They seem to have taken your own pace, we'll learn from there, "he explained.

Not only physical training, but Satine also has to increase her weight to look more convincing as a fighter character.

"Yes, I gained weight. Because at that time it didn't look like it, not dashing. It just doesn't seem like a fighter. Because it was an underweight at that time. So I ate and rolled so that it became muscle mass," he said.

Even though it was difficult, Satine took an important lesson from Ningrum's character, namely the attitude of never giving up.

(The attitude exemplified from the role) Gigih kali ya. He never gave up until the last drop of blood he would, if he knew he had to do something and he knew he wanted to do something, he would chase it until the end. It won't stop," he concluded.

Satine Zaneta, daughter of veteran actor Abimana Arya, revealed that since childhood she had grown up in a close environment with the film industry. Even though she had experienced a phase of finding identity, Satine finally realized that art is an inseparable part of her life.

"It seems that as a child who grows up in an environment surrounded by people in the film industry, it must be indirectly (involved). There are only ages whose names are denial high school children, like, oh I want to be a fashion designer, I want to be this. But somehow I always meet in general art because I happen to sing too, "said Satine.

Not only through acting, but Satine also channeled her expression through music. For him, both singing and playing movies provide space to express himself and understand emotions more deeply.

"I think there is an inequality in both of them, namely singing and playing films, I can express myself and I learn many things, especially about emotional regulation, if it's acting, yes. It's important to feel the layers of feelings that must be felt. Because in the past I was stuck tonny my feelings, here I learned that. So I take the positive is, I think this is the right path to fix myself too," he explained.

As the son of an important figure in Indonesian cinema, Satine did not deny that her father, Abimana Arya, was one of her role models.

"Oh yes, of course (father as role model), especially in the action movie industry, I look up to him very much, because I think he's one of the people who does everything with his heart, at the same time he also thinks about many people, safety, the comfort of many people, so I really look up to him," said Satine.

Even so, Satine emphasized that she never had the ambition to exceed her father.

"No, I would never be better than him, because he is already an experience figure too, and I never thought of getting better than anyone, especially my father, because we have our own parts, and I think that's fine too, like I'm just doing it my way," he said.

Interestingly, Satine also admitted that she had imagined playing a movie with her father. However, he still feels awkward being in the same frame as a figure he respects so much.

"Actually, I thought about it like that (playing a movie with my father), but I'm really embarrassed, actually if I'm in the same frame as my father, I don't think so, but if for example, I really have to, that's it, that's it," said Satine.

Now as a new figure into the world of film, Satine can only hope that she can continue to learn because this opportunity is an opportunity for her to become a better human being.

"Hopefully I can learn more and don't stop learning, because this is an opportunity where not only can I play a person in a film, but also an opportunity for me to learn to be a human being even better, continue to learn from many good people also in the industry, so the hope is never to stop," concluded Satine.
