Pramono Discourses On The Distribution Of KJMU Can Be Up To A Decree, PSI Calls It Central Government Affairs

JAKARTA - Member of the PSI faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Justin Adrian criticized DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung's plan to distribute Superior Student Jakarta Card (KJMU) assistance to students up to doctoral degrees.

Justin assessed that scholarships or educational assistance provided for undergraduate and doctoral levels should be a matter for the central government.

"As for the S2 and S3 scholarships, we should leave it to the central government, so that they can share programs and responsibilities proportionally," Justin said in his statement, Tuesday, April 29.

Justin emphasized that the DKI Provincial Government is sufficient to expand assistance to students at the undergraduate level and does not need to go to doctoral degrees. The expansion of KJMU can be done, especially strategic majors such as medicine.

According to him, the high cost of entering medical school makes it difficult for the government and the private sector to meet the needs of new doctors in order to fill the shortcomings throughout the country.

"According to WHO standards, the ideal number of doctors is 1:1000. Meanwhile, the comparison in Indonesia in 2020 was 0.4:1000. This means that there is less than 1 doctor for 1000 people who are sick in the country," explained Justin.

Apart from medicine, other strategic majors whose students need assistance according to Justin are computer science and engineering, seeing the current development of the industry.

"In my opinion, planning does not need to be too high up to doctoral degrees. Instead, the provision of KJMU must be strategic in nature so that it is in line with the existing social needs and industrial developments, so that the use of tax money from the people can have a maximum significant impact," said Justin.

Previously, Pramono revealed that the DKI Provincial Government would expand the level of education in the distribution of KJMU to S3.

"For KJMU, it used to be only a bachelor's degree, I said no. It must be a bachelor's degree, master's degree, even up to a doctor's degree. As long as the GPA is good, it is guaranteed to be able to go to school up to a doctoral degree," said Pramono, Sunday, April 27.

KJMU for students up to the doctoral level, according to Pramono, can bring the hopes of students who come from underprivileged families to achieve the highest education.

"If you have a bachelor's degree, then many then after S1 you still can't go straight to work. I believe that if you can reach the doctoral degree, it means that academically you are the most stuck, usually you can accept it everywhere and can cut the path of your family's disadvantage," he said.
