Ministry Of Social Affairs Saring Candidates For People's School Students According To Socio-Economic Provisions

PADANG Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf stated that the Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) would ensure that every prospective student of the People's School really came from a proper family according to the provisions before being accepted.

"We have several stages. First, we have to pass the administration first, which is included in the National Sole Social Economy Data (DTSEN) in the Desil 1 category," said Saifullah Yusuf in Padang, West Sumatra, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, April 29.

The Minister of Social Affairs explained that after the administration is fulfilled, the committee or appointed party will carry out field verification by going directly to the house of prospective students. This verification is important to ensure that the data is in accordance with real conditions. People who fall into the Desil 1 category are generally those who do not have a house or are classified as extreme poor.

Not only that, the Ministry of Social Affairs will also coordinate with local governments to ensure that every applicant of the People's School really meets the requirements. After that, prospective students will undergo a medical test before it is finally declared accepted.

"This data validation is carried out based on the established mechanism, according to President Prabowo Subianto's direction, so that People's Schools really target children from poor and extreme poor families," said Saifullah.

Saifullah added that his visit to West Sumatra was aimed at strengthening coordination with governors, regents, and mayors, in order to equalize perceptions regarding the implementation of this program.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Social Affairs together with the Ministry of Elementary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) are also preparing educators and school principals for the People's School. For the 2025/2026 school year, more than 500 prospective principals have been declared worthy, while the selection process for prospective teachers is still being perfected.
