Tottenham Sets Selling Price Cristian Romero Amid Atletico And Real Madrid's Interest

Tottenham Hotspur has reportedly set a selling price for Cristian Romero amid interest from Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid. The Argentine international joined Tottenham in the summer of 2022 from Atalanta BC in Serie A, and since then, Romero has appeared in 121 competitive matches.

Despite his 2024-25 season being slightly disrupted by injury, Romero is still considered a key player for Ange Postecoglou's side. This is evident by the fact that he has worn the captain's armband in four of the last six games in the Premier League.

Romero still has two years left on his contract with Tottenham, but recently he revealed he "wanted to play" in La Liga, sparking further speculation that he could move this summer.

Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are reportedly two clubs interested in recruiting Romero. Although Tottenham can still try to extend their contracts, it is reported that they will be open to let him go if there is an appropriate offer.

According to a report from Marca, Tottenham is ready to part with Romero if one of their enthusiasts meets the price they set, which is 70 million euros (around Rp1.3 trillion). The report also states that Atletico Madrid made Romero one of their main targets for this summer's transfer window, in addition to Villarreal striker Alex Baena.

Atletico Madrid plans to strengthen Diego Simeone's squad after they failed to win trophies this season. Los Colchoneros were eliminated in the Champions League quarter-finals and Copa del Rey semi-finals, and trailed 10 points behind La Liga leader Barcelona.

The back line is one of the areas they want to strengthen, especially as there is a possibility that some defenders will leave the club next summer. Cesar Azpilicueta and Alex Witsel are expected to leave after their contracts expire, while the fate of Clement Lenglet, who was borrowed from Barcelona, remains unclear whether to be permanent.
