Free To Jakarta? Transjabodetabek Add 5 New Routes, Operates August 2025
Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, stated that his party will test five additional Transjabodetabek routes in the next few months, following the operation of the Alam Sutera route 'Blok M. These routes are targeted to start full operation in August 2025.
During the trial period, the Department of Transportation will conduct a survey related to services, facilities and infrastructure, as well as other supporting needs needed for the operation of Transjabodetabek before all official routes are launched.
"Transjakarta since yesterday has started serving Transjabodetabek and the target is that until August there will be five additional routes," said Syafrin at DKI Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, Monday, April 28.
The five routes set for the trial are Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2'Pluit, PIK 2' Baru Bridge, Cawang City' via Jatiasih, Binong'Grogol, and Jatijajar' Kampung Rambutan.
"These five additional routes will later serve trips from Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi directly to Jakarta, so that the daily mobility of Bodetabek residents will be more optimal by using public transportation services," said Syafrin.
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government previously officially operated the Transjabodetabek service for the Alam Sutera route M (S61) on Thursday, April 24. The Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung, stated that in the medium to long term, all Transjabodetabek bus services are planned to be free.
"We agreed, in the medium to long term, Transjabodetabek will be free," said Pramono at the Transjakarta Bus Stop, Blok M, South Jakarta.
According to Pramono, the DKI Provincial Government is currently preparing a subsidy scheme so that services can continue without burdening passengers.
Currently, Transjabodetabek users are subject to a tariff of Rp. 3,500 per trip. After the subsidy scheme is completed and all routes, including S61 Alam Sutera 'Blok M, operate optimally, the tariff will be cut gradually to zero rupiah.
Pramono also assigned the Transjakarta Department of Transportation and management to carry out a massive expansion, including expanding reach to areas that have not been connected to mass transportation.
With 70 thousand passengers per day who have enjoyed free services in Jakarta, the DKI Provincial Government projects a significant increase in the number of users after Transjabodetabek is fully implemented.

"Bekasi residents, Tangerang, Depok, Bogor, and even Cianjur, can later go to Jakarta free of charge during this program period," said Pramono.
The subsidy scheme will be financed through the DKI Jakarta Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) as well as the contribution of the central government and partner provinces, following the buy the service (BTS) pattern.
However, the details of the amount of the budget and the exact time for the implementation of the zero rupiah tariff are still waiting for the results of the financial study and adjustments to regulations between provinces.
