Mother Iffet's Memory Of Bung Karno's Criticism Too Long To Power
JAKARTA - No one doubts Soekarno's charisma as the first President of Indonesia. Praises often come during his leadership. His rhetoric was jarring. Bung Karno was able to make the people proud of his Indonesianness.
Everything changed when Bung Karno became close to the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI and the group from which you were happy (ABS). Bung Karno began to be pushed to become president for life. This condition made criticism appear everywhere. Iffet Veceha Sidharta or better known as Mother Iffet did not want to miss Bung Karno's criticism.
Bung Karno's struggle to bring an independent Indonesia was not easy. He took everything for the struggle. He had experienced prison and exile. The struggle he went through was quite hard, only when Indonesia was independent in 1945.
All Indonesian people also made him the first President of Indonesia. Everything is based on a view that is unable to unite the Indonesian people besides Bung Karno. He is believed to be the unifier of the Indonesian nation.
His leadership was then proud everywhere. His charisma captivates many people. He is widely remembered as the best leader who has ever led Indonesia. However, that does not mean Bung Karno's leadership is without problems.
Bung Karno after the Netherlands admitted that Indonesia had started its major mission since 1949: a lighthouse project. The project was inflamed so that Indonesia was known to the world as a great nation.
No one dares to reject Bung Karno's ambitions. Whoever refuses, will surely be removed in a political map. A narrative depicting Bung Karno turning into an authoritarian leader.
This condition made the ABS group grow. They only conveyed what Bung Karno wanted to hear -- for the sake of profit and a place in power. While the voice of injustice related to the condition of the poor people is never a priority.
ABS also made Bung Karno feel confident to continue to lead Indonesia. Recently, this wish was realized by the presence of a lifelong presidential narrative through MPRS Decree No. III/MPRS in 1963.
"I am not surprised if in the future MPRS will make the decision to appoint President Soekarno to become President for life. In everything Soekarno is now (considered) great. The 5th Farmers Congress in Semarang gave Bintang Mr. Tani Indonesia to Soekarno as a sign of his deepest gratitude from the farmers. Soekarno has made the Army no longer move."
Erase SOB (war status), Soekarno's orders. Ready, said the Army. Cut the budget, Soekarno's orders. Ready, said the Army. Sukarno is reportedly trying to draw up a new weighting force against the PKI if the Army in the future after the lifting of the SOB loses its role as abanger," said Rosihan Anwar in the book Sukarno, army, PKI (2006).
Criticism of Bung Karno's desire to become president for life has emerged everywhere. Bung Karno's leadership began to be considered unfavorable to the people. There are also those who think that Bung Karno has been in power for too long.
This condition was voiced by many people. Mother Iffet became one of the brave. The mother of Bimo Setiawan Almachzumi (Bimbim Slank) who felt the bitter sweet of the Old Order era felt that Bung Karno had been in power for too long. He thought Bung Karno should have stopped and gave another figure to lead Indonesia.
Bung Karno is believed to only follow the words of his whispers. They continue to provide input if the people still want Bung Karno. In fact, the condition of the people under the flag of the Old Order is not doing well.
The leadership that was forced was considered by Mother Iffet to be close to disaster. One day the President could fall. Sure enough. What Mother Iffet described at that time happened. Bung Karno, who was made president for life, fell short due to being close to the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI).

Recently, Bung Karno's work ended as Suharto was popular. This condition made Bung Karno's influence begin to slowly disappear. Finally, Suharto and the New Order became the new rulers of Indonesia. Even though the same thing was repeated by Suharto in the 1998 era.
"But, according to Mother, if you become president, don't take too long. If you feel it's hard to lead, it looks like it's better for a period. Of course, the decline is good and it will go into history well. We don't have to be influenced by people who are ambitious and ABS. ."
"Finally, the name itself fell into a trap. Actually, it is not necessarily the leader who was persuaded that he was still willing. But, because it is said that the people still want it, with seduction, it will eventually end up being forced to fall. It hurts, right? " said Mother Iffet in her book Bundaku dear: Family, Slank, and the Indonesian nation (2004).
