Komdigi Makes The DSA And DMA Laws Of The European Union As Tolok Ukur National Digital Regulations

JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, stated that he would use two European Union, Digital Services Act (DSA) and Digital Markets Act (DMA) laws, as benchmarks in drafting a national digital regulation framework.

"Of course, we need to adjust it at some point and have become a benchmark for many countries to pay attention to, as well as artificial intelligence regulations," Nezar said in a statement, quoted Monday, April 28.

The Deputy Minister of Communication and Trade said that Indonesia has collaborated with several countries, including the European Union in digital governance and is expanding collaboration to respond to the latest technological developments.

"One of the most important things when we talk about digital transformation for this country, apart from artificial intelligence, is how to manage the platform. Cybersecurity is one thing we need to learn about in platform regulation as well," he said.

Nezar also emphasized the existence of new technology ecosystems such as the Internet of Things (IoT) that the government needs the latest cyber regulation and security in order to realize national digital transformation.

The EU Ambassador to Indonesia, Denis Chaibi, stated that Indonesia and the European Union will benefit greatly from digital cooperation. According to him, Indonesia has a great opportunity to invite private companies to develop digitalization like in Europe.

"Which means that regulation is becoming more important, especially when we discuss artificial intelligence, disinformation, and infrastructure security," he stressed.

Ambassador Denis Chaibi hopes that the Indonesian government can send delegations to two European Union activities to discuss digital governance regulations that will be held in Brussels, Belgium and Stockholm, Sweden.
