IDR 1,200 Trillion Flows In Online Gambling: PPATK Beware Of New Modes

JAKARTA - The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK) said that the government's performance, especially the National Police, could reduce the turnover of financial transactions related to Online Gambling (judol). Although, based on data, the value is still quite high in the 2025 period.

"It must be admitted that the hard work that has been done by the government through the Judol desk has succeeded in suppressing the growth rate of Judol activities, especially since the Police have shown the success of law enforcement," said PPATK Chairman Ivan Yustiavandana in a written statement, Monday, April 28.

Based on data, the turnover rate in 2025 reached IDR 1,200 trillion. This value is taken from the shift in the pattern of judol transactions until the results are secured abroad.

"That the value of Rp. 1,200 trillion is an estimate of the accumulation of online gambling cycles until the end of 2025. This value is based on the trend in the value of the turnover in 2024," he said.

"There has been a shift in transaction patterns from how to deposit into gambling sites to how to escape funds abroad. We have parameters and carry out analysis of related accounts. That's the amount of potential by the end of 2025," Ivan continued.

In addition, Ivan said crypto is still often used to transfer funds by judol actors. One of the most massive flow of funds was launched to Singapore.

"As in 2024, cryptocurrencies are experiencing an upward trend as an instrument to move funds. However, there is still a flow of funds to Singapore, UK and the Philippines using a fund transfer instrument," he said.

"Yes, indeed, fintech's progress has resulted in a massive virtual currency being used as an alternative transaction to hide illegal assets," he continued.

Regarding judol users, Ivan said PPATK is still waiting for definite data. "The data is still awaited until the first half of this year. There is (increase) tendency," said Ivan.

Previously, Ivan said the turnover of online gambling funds had also increased from last year. He explained, in 2024, the circulation of online gambling funds amounted to Rp. 981 trillion.

"Last year's data amounted to Rp. 981 trillion," said Ivan.
