Marc Marquez Masters The 2025 Spanish MotoGP Sprint Race At Jerez, Quartararo Fails After Pole!
JAKARTA - Marc Marquez again showed his dominance in the 2025 Sprint Race MotoGP by winning his fifth straight victory, this time at the Jerez Circuit, Spain, Saturday, April 26. Even though he had to start the race from second place after Fabio Quartararo broke his pole tension, Marquez was able to turn things around and secure victory with confidence.
Racing was fierce from the start. Quartararo, who brought Yamaha to his pole position since 2022, managed to maintain the lead at the start by overtaking Marquez at Turn 1. However, the drama only happens one lap later. When Marquez manages to be leveled with Quartararo on the track straight behind, he executes a clean maneuver to seize the lead of the race.
Unfortunately, that pressure made Quartararo make a mistake. When he entered the Corner of Dani Pedrosa, the Yamaha M1 motorbike he was driving lost stability during braking, made Quartararo widen and eventually fell. This incident immediately thwarted Quartararo's hopes of reaching the podium, even finishing the race.
With Quartararo out, Marquez opened a distance of 0.6 seconds from his younger brother, Alex Marquez, who raced for the Gresini Ducati BK8 team. Francesco Bagnaia, Marc's teammate at Ducati Lenovo, trailed him in third. This trio maintains his position to the finish line, ensuring the Ducati's colorful podium at Jerez.
Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina VR46 Ducati) finished fourth, followed by Fermin Aldeguer, sensational rookie of BK8 Gresini Ducati, and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina VR46 Ducati), who completed Ducati's dominance by placing six riders in the top six.
Maverick Vi happened to be the best non-Ducati rider to finish seventh for Red Bull KTM Tech3, followed by Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing) in eighth place, and Joan Mir (Honda HRC Castrol) in ninth. Pedro Azerbaijan, the young Red Bull star of KTM, completes the top ten.
Bad luck also happened to Jack Miller (Pramac Yamaha) and Johann Zarco (Castrol Honda LCR) who had to record DNF (Did Not Finish) after falling early. In addition, all riders use a combination of medium front tires and soft rear tires, except Zarco who chooses medium rear tires, a more common combination for the main race.
On the other hand, this race also marked Aleix Espargaro's debut as a wildcard Honda racer. The former Aprilian racer is now serving as a Honda test rider and uses an RC213V motorcycle with a new prototype component.

Meanwhile, Jorge Martin, who is still recovering from injury after an accident in Qatar, remains absent. Lorenzo Savadori is back to replace him in Aprilia Factory. Likewise Augusto Fernandez, who continues to be a replacement for Miguel Oliveira at Pramac Yamaha for the third time in a row.
To conclude the week of racing, Jerez will host the official test midway through the first season of MotoGP 2025 on Monday, which is an important moment for all teams to develop their motors further.
With this result, Marc Marquez is getting stronger at the top of the MotoGP Sprint standings for the 2025 season, strengthening his ambition to return to being the king of MotoGP.
