Move MH Thamrin Statue To Museum, Pramono: Seizin Bang Yos And Foke
JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said he was ready to move a statue of the MH Thamrin figure at the intersection of Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan and Jalan MH Thamrin to the MH Thamrin Museum, instead of going to Jalan MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta as previously stated.
"I discussed with Bang Foke, this statue (MH Thamrin) is not a large statue made. As per Bang Yos and Bang Foke's permission, we will put this statue in the MH Thamrin Museum," Pramono said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, April 26.
Then, according to the plan, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will still put a statue of MH Thamrin on Jalan MH Thamrin.
This statue will be made new and bigger, and efforts are made not to use the DKI Jakarta Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).
"If using APBD funds for too long. We can use it from other sources such as CSR funds (social responsibility for the company), KLB (compensation funds from excess Building Floor Coefficients, and various things," said Pramono.
The statue that will be made later is in the pose of the MH Thamrin figure who is thinking.
In contrast to the previous statue, which was in a standing position, wearing a coat and cap, with his right hand pointing forward and his left hand holding the book.
"A representative statue. I know MH Thamrin is a Betawi person thinker. So I ask theescent, make the face, hands and face of MH Thamrin who is thinking," he said.

He said the reason for putting the statue on Jalan MH Thamrin was because the area was the main symbol of Jakarta.
"Because this is our main path and I am sure that the central government will agree with this idea. That's why our common kindness in paying tribute to the main character of Betawi," he said.
In addition, as well as a form of appreciation from the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to people who are considered meritorious to build Jakarta, namely Mohammad Hoesni Thamrin.
On that occasion, Pramono also conveyed plans to renovate the MH Thamrin Museum.
According to him, the facilities there are still lacking, so they need to be renovated.
