Garuda Indonesia Prepares 14 Aircraft For Hajj Flights 2025

JAKARTA - PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has prepared 14 large-body aircraft or wide-body for the 2025 Hajj flight. The aircraft consists of Boeing B777-300ER, Airbus A330-900neo, and Airbus A330-300.

Garuda Indonesia President Director, Military Commander Tsani, said that there were 13 aircraft that would be operated, while one aircraft unit was prepared as a backup.

Garuda Indonesia will operate as many as 13 wide-body fleets during the Hajj season. Then to anticipate the potential for irregularity in flight operations, 1 Airbus A330-300 reserve aircraft is also provided," he said in an official statement, Thursday, April 24.

The military commander also said that of the 13 aircraft that are safe to operate to serve Hajj flights this year, five of them are chartered aircraft.

Furthermore, the Military Commander said to ensure that the aircraft operates in a healthy and airworthy condition, Garuda Indonesia implements a number of comprehensive and layered maintenance procedures in all fleets that will serve Hajj flights through the Aircraft Health Program which has been going on since early April.

"Including the fulfillment of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) Certification as the main requirement to register Hajj aircraft with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Authority," he explained.

In this year's Hajj season, continued the Military Commander, Garuda Indonesia is projected to carry 90,933 passengers consisting of 90,203 prospective pilgrims and 730 Hajj officers divided into 246 flying groups (cluters) and departed from seven embarkations, namely Banda Aceh, Medan, Jakarta, Solo, Balikpapan, Makassar, and Lombok.

The military commander said that the departure phase will gradually take place from May 2 to 16, 2025 for flights to Medina, and May 17, 2025 for flights to Jeddah.

"Furthermore, the phase of repatriation of the congregation will start from June 11 to 25, 2025 with departures from Jeddah/Madinah to the city of Embarkation, and June 26 to July 10, 2025 from Medina to the city of Embarkation," he said.

Furthermore, the Military Commander admitted that his party continues to optimize the readiness of operational services ahead of the implementation of the Hajj flight, which will begin on Friday, May 2, 2025.

"In order to ensure that the departure phase until the phase of Hajj return takes place smoothly and safely, readiness efforts are carried out in a number of aspects ranging from service, operations, to strengthening safety management," he said.
