Prabowo Welcomes Fiji Privateni Rabuka PM At The Jakarta Palace, Strengthens 50 Years Partnership

JAKARTA - President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto received an official visit from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji Sitiveni Rabuka at the Merdeka Palace, Thursday morning. The visit of the head of the Fiji government, which was the first time since diplomatic relations opened in 1974, marks more than 50 years of partnership between the two countries in the Pacific region.

The Prime Minister of Rabuka arrived at around 10.30 WIB with a motorcade greeted by troops in line of honor, the Paspampres equestrian team, and dozens of elementary school students who raised the Indonesian and Fiji flags.

At the west of the palace, President Prabowo greeted his guests directly, shaking hands warmly before walking together to the ceremonial field.

The state procession begins with the Fiji national anthem, followed by Indonesia Raya, accompanied by a 19-meriam boom in honor. The two leaders then reviewed the honorary troops and introduced their respective delegations.

From the Indonesian side were Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Brian Yuliarto, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Angga Raka Prabowo, and Indonesian Ambassador to Fiji Dupito D. Simamora.

After the ceremony, the President invited PM Rabuka to the Credential Room for official photos and the signing of the state guest book. The two then held a four-eye meeting, followed by a bilateral meeting with delegates to discuss strengthening cooperation in the fields of development, climate, food security, and maritime defense.

Deputy for Protocol, Press and Media of the Presidential Secretariat Yusuf Permana stated that this visit is expected to be a strategic momentum to deepen Indonesia's collaboration and strengthen coordination in facing global challenges in the Pacific region.

The agenda closed with the official lunch held by President Prabowo in honor of the Prime Minister Rabuka and his entourage before they continued a series of visits in Jakarta.
