Minister Of Transportation Denies Congestion Of Horror In Tanjung Priok Impact Of Operational Restrictions On Goods Trucks
Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi denied the long traffic jams that occurred on a number of routes leading to Tanjung Priok Port some time ago due to restrictions on the operation of goods transport trucks.
According to Dudy, there is nothing to do with long traffic jams that occur with vehicle operations barriers. This was concluded after the transportation authority directly visited the location.
"If we look at it after yesterday I reviewed, so there is no connection between the congestion that occurred in Tanjung Priok and the restrictions on vehicles," he said when met at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Wednesday, March 23.
"Because the restrictions on the twins will be completed on the 8th, even though in the field we already have actual relaxation from the 7th (April). So from the 7th or the 8th to the date of the incident on the 17th day span it is too far," he continued.
According to Dudy, the cause of the congestion was due to a violation of passenger capacity by the local port terminal manager.
Furthermore, Dudy said the capacity to serve loading and unloading activities at one of the port terminals should be around 65 percent. However, at the time of the incident, the capacity exceeded these provisions.
"So there is a terminal capacity that is actually done, there is a capacity that is violated by the terminal manager at the port," he said.
Previously, it was reported that PT Pelahan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo opened its voice regarding the long traffic jam that occurred on Jalan Yos Sudarso and a number of other routes leading to Tanjung Priok Port. The traffic jam occurred due to increased loading and unloading activity at the port.
The Executive General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok, Adi Sugiri, said that there was an increase in the flow of container goods that would carry out container receiving delivery activities at Tanjung Priok Port.
In addition, he said, this coincided with the completion of the Eid homecoming period and the post-implementation of goods traffic restrictions.
"Long traffic jams occurred today due to increased loading and unloading activities at Tanjung Priok Port," he said in an official statement, Thursday, April 17.
Adi said there were no obstacles that occurred as a result of system errors both at the Port Gate and at the Priok Port Container Terminal and it was confirmed that the ship's loading and unloading activities went smoothly without any problems.

Furthermore, Adi said, for NPCT Terminal 1 the volume enrichment occurred 100 percent of the number of trucks entering the terminal. Where on average the number entered was less than 2,500 trucks.
"But today it reaches above 4,000 trucks heading to NPCT 1. The operating system at the terminal and in the Common Area of the entrance to NPCT 1 is confirmed to be normal without any problems," he said.
