Imbas Kasus Kekerasan Seksual Di RSHS, Kemenkes Buat Aturan Baru Terkait Ruang Blank Di RS

JAKARTA - The case of sexual violence carried out by anesthesitic resident at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) made the Indonesian Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) set several new rules. One of them is regulations related to the use of empty spaces in hospitals.

As is known, the sexual violence carried out by the anesthetic incident was in an empty room under the pretext of having a blood check. The victim was directed to room number 711 of the MCHC Building RSHS House, which is a new room that has not been used.

Seeing that the case of sexual violence was carried out in an empty space, the Indonesian Ministry of Health encourages new rules regarding the lockdown or sealing of rooms in hospitals that have not been or have not been used. This is done in order to anticipate the misuse of hospital facilities in the future.

"There must be an SOP related to the existence of empty spaces in hospitals. All empty spaces must be sealed and locked, no one can enter, anyone if they are empty," said Director General of Health continued by the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes), Azhar Jaya, at a press conference on the handling of cases of Ethical Violations and Medical Personnel Discipline, on YouTube of the Indonesian Ministry of Health, on Monday, April 21, 2025.

"We will apply the lockdown as a standard in all hospitals," he added.

Azhar also reminded that patients have the right to reject any actions that make them feel uncomfortable. One of them is an act without anyone accompanying them.

According to Azhar, medical action involving only one doctor and one patient in a closed room, especially the opposite sex, is not allowed.

"There is no patient allowed alone with a doctor. Patients may refuse if they feel insecure. Indeed, the Standard Operating Procedure/SoP for patients is not allowed to be alone, let alone the opposite sex," he said.

Meanwhile, in addition to new rules related to empty space in hospitals, the Indonesian Ministry of Health has also imposed other regulations to prevent the recurrence of sexual violence by medical personnel. The regulation is in the form of regular psychological tests for prospective specialist doctors, in order to find out their mental condition to prevent cases related to mental health problems.
