Djarot Said PDIP Cadres Want Megawati To Remain General Chair

JAKARTA - The chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP, Djarot Saiful Hidayat, said his party cadre wanted Megawati Soekarnoputri to return to being the General Chair. This is in accordance with the results of the Fifth National Working Meeting in Ancol which was held in May 2024.

"Most of our cadres still want the general chairman, Mrs. Mega," Djarot told reporters at Borobudur University, East Jakarta, Saturday, April 19, 2025.

Djarot said Megawati would be re-appointed as General Chair through the PDIP's ke-VI Congress. However, he could not detail when it will be implemented even though consolidation continues to be carried out.

"Congress is just waiting," he said.

The PDIP congress which is held every five years should be held in 2024. However, the postponement until April 2025 was finally carried out due to the tight national agenda in line with the General Election (election).

Previously reported, the chairman of the PDIP DPP, Ganjar Pranowo, said that the further discussion regarding the VI Congress which was planned to be held in April 2025 had not yet been carried out. Even if there is a delay, it may not take too long.

"(The congress plan, ed.) hasn't. Yes (it will be implemented, ed.) this year," Ganjar told reporters in Jakarta, Tuesday night, April 15, 2025.

Ganjar did not want to elaborate on the reason for the postponement of the five-year event. He argued that PDIP was waiting for the right time.

"It must be waiting for a good day," said the former Governor of Central Java.
